New Project....

Image
Okay, so I've been wanting to make a Civil War Era gown and have completed the undergarments that would be required to wear such a garment. However, a new project has come across my sights. Our friends, Brenna & Stacey, are two very knowledgable people about early English Royalty & Art respectively. So, I have decided to begin working on a pair of outfits for Stacey and I. We will hopefully be able to go as two of the wives of Henry the VIII for our Halloween 2010 plans; more specifically Anne Boleyn and another one of his wives. (Perhaps Jane Seymour - and no I don't mean the actress.) Here are the patterns that I plan to utilize in making our outfits. It will require a bit time, without a doubt, but I know I'm up to the challenge. I'm planning on having them completed by the beginning of October - no exact date. Will know more once I obtain the materials needed to complete the outfits. The Gown portion is Simplicity 2589 and the Undergarments is Simplicity 26

Here is the Whole Project!

Okay, so remember how I mentioned that I had taken 2 years to complete a set of Civil War Era Undergarments? Actually, I should say that it took me 2 years to compile the items needed to make them; construction time was only about 3 months. Well, here is a picture of all of my hard work! (Almost, you can't see the bloomers under the skirt, but nonetheless it's all my hard work come together! Please feel free to leave comments!

Um...yeah...

For whatever reason, I couldn't take a nap. This is going to suck! I have to be at work at 7 pm and work until 7:30 am! Kill me! Just kill me! I suppose I shouldn't complain too loudly as I will only have to work those hours for about another two weeks.

My Blog: The Inauguration

OMG! I have a blog. I used to think my friends that blogged were crazy! Why would anyone be interested in what I have to say? In general, I don't say much about things; unless it has to do with a relatively short list of topics that spark not just an interest but a fire of desire: Theatre, Makeup, Costumes, Sewing and Halloween. They kind of all go together, so depending on how you look at it there is one general topic or several small topics. I prefer to think of the later. I am a nurse by day (although right now I work the night shift) and love to plan projects during my downtime. Some would call them epics because some take forever ! I've been working on some Civil War Era undergarments for almost 2 years! The only reason it took that long is a mix of a hectic work schedule and relatively low revenue for sewing projects of this magnitude. I had to piece meal it and get items as I had saved up for them. Once I had the final piece, the fabric, the projects came together in jus
